The shrine precinct is a holy place where the kami resides. When entering and exiting the shrine, face the torii and make a bow to the deity.

Fushimi Inari Taisha is located on the west foot of Mt. Inari, the southernmost mountain of the Higashiyama Sanju-Roppo (36 mountain range). It is the head shrine of the approximately 30,000 Inari-sha shrines located around Japan.

■ By train: Keihan Electric Railway’s Keihan Main Line (Keihan-honsen) to Fushimi Inari Station (about a 5-minute walk to the shrine)
JR West Japan Railway’s Nara Line to Inari Station (the shrine is just outside the station)
■By bus: Kyoto City Bus “Minami #5” to Inari Taisha Mae (about a 7-minute walk to the shrine)
